First Impressions

After my husband’s appointment at the VA hospital, we almost grabbed coffee inside but decided to see what was nearby. Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii was less than half a mile away, so we walked over. The weather was perfect, which made it an even better choice.

What We Ordered

  • Bad Ass Iced Pumpkin Latte (me): Smooth and festive, with a nice balance of pumpkin spice flavor. What really stood out was that their iced drinks come with coffee ice cubes instead of regular ice, so when it melts you get even more coffee flavor instead of watered down.
  • Maple Wave Iced Latte (husband): Strong maple flavor that stood out right away. He enjoyed it, but I’m not a big maple fan, so I preferred mine.
  • Egg Bites: Two warm, fluffy bites that were delicious and filling and perfect alongside our iced lattes.

What Makes It Special

The shop is spacious and welcoming, with board games in the seating area that would be great for kids. I saw people reading and working quietly, and there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. I’ve been to other Bad Ass Coffee locations before, but it’s been a while, so this felt like a fun rediscovery.

Vibe Check

  • Family Friendly: Yes, games and open seating make it easy with kids
  • Work/Study Friendly: Yes, calm atmosphere
  • Busy Level: Not crowded during our visit
  • Location: Super convenient for anyone near Vanderbilt or the VA hospital

Mom Win

Family Friendly for sure. Had several games and open seating which would be great if we had our kids in tow. Maybe next visit.

Final Sip

Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii in Nashville is a great stop if you’re near Vanderbilt or the VA hospital. The drinks were solid, the egg bites hit the spot, and the space is both family and work friendly. It’s not an everyday coffee run since it’s 30–40 minutes from us, but it’s definitely worth visiting when you’re in the area.
